Integrated Medical Therapies

Why are we creating this national directory?

IntegratedCare4NHS is hosting a national register of Integrated Medical Therapies (IMTs) which comprises of Complementary and Alternative Medical Practices (CAMs) & Allied Healthcare Professionals (AHPs) for GPs, CCG board members and private healthcare professionals who are involved in referring patients to IMTs.

Despite the growing move to give patients freedom in choosing IMTs GP’s and the entire primary care team still do not have an up-to-date, accurate, easy to use online directory of Integrated Medical Therapies.

Without this essential information GPs are reluctant to refer and patients do not get to exercise their Patient Choice options. It remains critical that in the spirit of the new Act, GPs should be actively encouraged to refer patients to IMTs where appropriate, especially considering the tough economic times which may dissuade some CCGs from commissioning pathways for treatments provided by IMTs.

Due to this, and in the interest of providing a much needed validated information source, IntegratedCare4NHS has launched the first phase of a national directory of qualified IMTs. which it is hoped will cover all 209 CCG regions.

A few of the services that will be included in the first phase of the directory are:
